Understanding the ‘Gremlin’: Using REBT Practices to Coach the Self-Sabotaging Client

All clients get ‘stuck’ from time to time. In this presentation, the ability to move the action forward by listening and asking powerful questions of the client will be explored. Using Rick Carson’s Taming Your Gremlin concepts and Albert Ellis’ Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) as tools to uncover the mindsets that sabotage client progress. This is a transformational model that permits the client to challenge their attitudes, mindsets and choice behaviors by permitting self-awareness and creativity to the coaching process.

1. Discover the self-sabotaging behaviors: what they look like in a client and how to coach through them to mindfulness
2. Learn how to determine when your thoughts and beliefs (and your client’s) can be your greatest or worst enemies.
3. Learn the differences and similarities between Carlson Model and the REBT Model.
4. Practice concepts with Gremlin/BEBT worksheets
